4th wave feminism is way overdue

No offense to the community, but can we stop with all the names and shit like “Queer,” “GenderQueer,” “Pansexual,” and whatever other word of the day sexuality-defining term you’re using? Shit, just fuckin’ say “I’m not into guys like that but do still get romantic feelings for them” or whatever the fuck. Just stop making up words to feel special.

Pansexual, genderqueer and queer is so much easier to say, so no offence to you, but no.

lol ‘queer’ as a made-up word

‘Queer’ emerged in the English language IN THE FUCKING 1500s. It was being used for deviance from sexual norms by the late 1800s. It has a VERY long history as a word (longer than ‘homosexual’, I will add, which appeared in print for the first time in the mid-1800s) and has NOT been made-up.

Kindly learn shit about language.

I am never going to stop calling myself pansexual or genderqueer, I can call myself by whatever name I like if I feel like it represents me, and in those to words I find SOLACE and ACCEPTANCE which unsurprisingly I DON’T GET MUCH ANYWHERE ELSE.

Language has many words for me, not a lot of which are very nice, or helpful or positive, or representative, or inclusive, or descriptive. A lot of them are stereotyped, loaded, negative, offensive, often insulting. These words (pansexual and genderqueer) are only descriptive, mostly they are neutral too, or positive (although queer still gets banded around by homophobes a lot), so why would you want to take that away from people?!

I am not sorry for your lack of understanding, and maybe keep you’re nose outta other peoples identities.

New words are being created all the time, like slang words for example, what’s wrong with that?! There’s nothing wrong with new vocabulary, ESPECIALLY when that vocabulary gives new people a voice, or helps them explain themselves better or more fully.

I would like to remind people that ‘heteronormative’ (and it’s variations) has only been a word for about 20 years, and it still gets a red line underneath it when I type it on my laptop. It’s generated meaning over time, but it started somewhere.

If it’s a question of relativity, then you have no say in who and when these words are used by people, since you clearly don’t relate to these words - but there are people who do, and fiercely so.
